I am Kirk Watson a freelance filmmaker and a BAFTA winning Drone Cinematographer who has a UK and European drone licence. www.perfectviewproductions.co.uk.
I often post recent film projects of things I've been up to. The channel started as I blogged for 18 months from Antarctica with films. I learnt to film in my spare time in Antarctica and there was a fair bit in my 6 years living there:)

Edinburgh Christmas Market and Castle Lights
Here are a few shots of Edinburgh Market and Lights at the Castle. The light show is amazing and this video doesn't quite show how good it is. I was blown away seeing it. If you have not been to the light show or even the Christmas markets worth getting there:)
Music here is 'Ronnie and the Reindeer' by the awesome www.belugalagoon.com
I was also excited flying my drone there as it's normally tricky to do with it being in the city and a military compound. But with all permissions in place and the Castle closed to the public for a job I was on I got to fly there which was awesome. I flew the DJI Mini 3 drone over the esplanade then the DJI Mavic 3 pro CINE inside the castle and above it.
The footage is just as is from the drone I didn't grade or anything as had to shoot in normal mode for my client rather that prores and LOG footage.

Scotland, Engineering Projects from the Air
Переглядів 799 місяців тому
A collection of some of the engineering works I've been filming from the air over the last year. Filming the guys cleaning the cables on the Queensferry crossing was a highlight. I'm good with natural heights in the mountains but always makes me shiver seeing folk working on man made structures for some reason:) Few shots of renewables too and flying from boats and the Kelpies. All the footage ...
River Spey floods 2023

Some footage from yesterday of how massive the River Spey was down stream past Boat of Garten and Broomhill Station. Willem from Broomhill House came out with his Land Rover to let me film a bit closer going through the water on the flooded roads which was later closed. The flooding has been pretty bad in Scotland especially for this time of year. Usually its snow melt plus rain that does it bu...
Floods Aviemore, Scotland 2023

Floods in Aviemore were pretty devastating last night and today as the river came up even further again. Very bad for the Caravan park and for many cars in the area. Very stressful night for the Old Bridge Inn (my favourite pub) too that got a bit of river water in it and the team were sweeping out the water but as its been restored from the last floods hopefully it can withstand the bit of wat...

A new drone showreel of a selection of work I have been up to over the past while. The clips were all shot for actual jobs I was working on for several different companies. 'Scotland from the Air' was my title then I realised one shot is not from Scotland but heyho. I was thinking Holy Island is north of Hadrians wall but on googling Hadrians wall I learnt (seemingly a common misconception, was...

Indoor Monkeys - First outdoor climb for them on 'The Old Man of Stoer'

Rob Gladden and Stuart Macalpine are two great indoor climbers who get taught for a couple of days how to lead outdoors by Jas Hepburn (who taught me to climb) then take on there first multi pitch which happens to be the Old Man of Stoer in Northwest Scotland. Filmed I think in 2010 or 2011.
Autumn colours with new Sirui Anamorphic 35mm

So my old GH5 broke and bought a new one so I can send the old one for repair. So here I went out to test the new GH5 with my new Sirui 35mm Anamorphic which I bought back in August but just arrived recently:) I do love the look of the Anamorphic lenses and this lens is a super solid lens. Great iris and focus and looks like a good image. I was out on the river Spey grabbing a couple of extra d...
DON'T BE LIKE BARRY - Barry goes wild camping

Episode 4 of Don't be like Barry. Barry goes wild camping Here Barry highlights some of the places people think of as wild camping and some of them can be alright if done respectfully, which isn't Barry's style. It seems that post lockdown has weirdly brought out (although still a small percentage of people) an unprecedented amount of people who just wild camp in their masses. Leaving litter, j...

Episode 3 of 'Don't be like Barry'. Barry needs to go.... With the influx of a few people probably less than 1% of visitors to the Aviemore area there seems to be folk doing Jobbies everywhere with no thought for how it spoils peoples day and probably your own if you discover it again. There have been a lot of dogs rolling in human poo recently and kids stepping in it so we thought we would try...
DON'T BE LIKE BARRY - Barry goes for a BBQ

Don't be like Barry 2nd episode of this mini series. Barry heads for a BBQ in the wild. Written and filmed by Perfect View Productions and acted by Scott of The Pine Marten Bar Scran . Post lockdown has had an increase in disposable BBQ use and dumb fannies burning rectagles everywhere. Probably happening all over Britain. We live in The Cairngorms National Park and thought this might highlight...

Don't be like Barry. The start of a short series of films involving Barry:) A wee film I wrote and got Scott from the Pine Marten involved. It seems that post lockdown has weirdly brought out (although still a small percentage of people) an unprecedented amount of people who just drop their litter and sometimes just leave bags of litter on a beach or by a road. Seems to be happening all over Br...

Sirui Anamorphic 50mm lens on GH5 - First shots at Loch Morlich
Переглядів 3604 роки тому
Just a little test footage from the Sirui Anamorphic lens. It is mounted on the GH5. Not much sun out for flares. Just had walk around for an hour near home in the Cairngorms National Park to test it out and see how it works and how the editing and de-squeeze works:) I do love the look of it. This was all hand held but interested to try it out with it in 4K and also on a gimbal. Hoping to use i...

You are a great Dad.
You are a great Dad.
how long did it take to finish making the film entirely.
We started filming in mid winter and it was filmed and edited before the first aeroplane came in at Rothera station so by the end of september I think
@@extremefilm i mean the exact number of months
Your Il-76 jumbo jet screams like an eagle
No trees.
very tree in most of Scotland. need a bit of rewilding on the go:)
Absolutely brilliant an inspiration to us all...this is Drone footage at its very best!! ATVB Andy and The ROCK STAR ⭐ 🙏
How did you find going from WFR straight to EMT stuff? Did things link up nicely? Would you of wanted some 'consolidation' time if you did it again? Thanks!
I haven't done the EMT sorry just the WFR
Flat earthers gonna say this is CGI and Photoshop
This is true. Not sure why so many flat earthers are drawn to my video lol. I just filmed this about the first days of sun after midwinter🤷♂️🤣. I think they all must have skipped their geography classes in school as kids😁
Is the sun moving across the sky or is it my imagination?
You are correct😁
So the sun does not stay above the horizon 24/7 there during summer?
Yes it does at some points. It changes each week and day even but yes probably a few months in summer when the sun just goes round and round in the sky not setting😁👍🏻
@@extremefilm interesting! It's odd because I'm comparing the angels of the sun in the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere and it would seem like the north gets more sun year round. Some places past the Antarctic circle for the same latitude past the equator has the sun quite a bit lower than you see in the arctic circle. I've become curious enough to go there myself if it weren't so expensive haha!
Yes different all over the world 😁. Lovely long sun sets or rises in Antarctica. But I remember living in Kenya the sun went down so quickly almost like a light switch😁
@@extremefilm so from your experience you'd say the sun doesn't do anything unexpected in Antarctica?
Just does what it’s meant to like we probably learnt in high school 😁
So amazing view😢😢
glad you like
Thanks! Is it mostly in the areas along River Spey?🤔
yes the river spey in aviemore area:)
The clouds repeat on loop. :25 to 1:25 fake video 100%
Lol whatever mate. have a nice day
@@extremefilm You would *THINK* that a place getting sun for 24 hours a day, 6 months in a row would be hot, not cold. Sadly, neither pole fits this case :( and almost all the heat from the sunlight gets "deflected" due to the shallow angle it hits the atmosphere. Too bad Antarctica has no trees no rivers and nothing to build shelters with; it would be amazing to have a 7th continent that's habitable for humans

Aqui nóis falar português, morou?
Is the government council mp environment Minister awakens ❤❤
socially conditioned moron: ohhh this is climate change beause of our carbon emissions. this is why i bought a tesla bcoz its good for the environment and im doing my bit to help the planet. WRONG! What this actually is the knock on effects of weather manipulation such as cloud seeding. The Earth being a self correcting system, if you fuck with the atmosphere (and YES THIS IS A FACT that is happening) then there is consequences. We the public have had a clever game played on us. Governments have funded a huge advertising campaign blaming us , our use of the petrol engine . This is how they disguise their shady work being done in the sky. BUT dont worry folks.....that magical tax money we are paying in ULEZ and other additional, hidden taxes, will solve it ALL. .........Not!!
I can' t help but ask myself? Where is the God almighty amongst all this chaos? Iv' e had people ask me? Where is your God??? Wait for it! Just saying.
Ooooh God help

Is the soundtrack by Beluga Lagoon?
Yes it is well spotted:) There is new music coming from them shortly:)
So I hear and looking forward to attending their future gigs. Your aerial shots in this and other videos that I have seen are always impressive! @@extremefilm
Your video sequence is incredible, the music is very sensitive, the flood is terrifying, and the video is so beautiful that it's impossible to look away.
Thanks:)

Absolutely loving and awed by your series of videos on the flooding. Great work.
Thanks Gordon:)
Great film but nothing can compare to the Muckle Spate 1829

Awful flood -Great film
yes very true:)
Hi. Mind your feet when you are cutting the ice.
This is just brilliant ❤
Cheers:)
At least they didn’t get covered in fulmar vomit, as I did, at the top of the chimney pitch. And believe me it is as bad as they say. Fine video!
Thanks:) Yes they are pretty stinky lol
Nice! The visibility has decreased since the 80's 90's..
I notice that the bbq in question is from the Co-Op. As an employee of the Co-Op I feel it important to point out that only a small percentage of people who shop in the Co-Op are dicks.
That should do it (the nut that probably still lives in that crack)
An amazing antidiluvian city was found there by Chile explorers forbiden zone now but not for our north frienfs
Oh really never heard of it?
You really know how to show the best of up there. ❤

Stunning film Kirk 🙌🏻
Thanks Maureen
Despite only having climbed a flight of stairs before, I thoroughly enjoyed that! I particularly enjoyed how you let the two climbers provide (just enough) commentary. It was only as I watched the credits that I realised you went up first: lightweight camera? What about part two, see how they progresses ten years on?
Glad you enjoyed the watch of this old video Jim. Well one is still walking and climbing. The other not so much but works in ropes access and just became a ad a few days ago:)
beautiful video
Thanks very much:)
Give your life to Christ
I want to try climbing now, aye indoors the top of that stack looks terrifying 😂 great film 😊
Was fun:)
Why they hide that inner ancient city found overthere by Chile explores taken away by our friends of the north
Stunning landscape !
Where's the ever expanding wall of antartica?
Great!
Surprised you got away with filming what you did ? Having done that exact flight several times ( for work) over the years
well, I went and read about the Ellsworth Lake drilling project and honestly it made my hair stand on end, looking for freaky bacteria and dealing with high pressure super-cold water (I dun even know what it would do as it experienced less pressure - would it suddenly freeze?!) seemed rather Pandora-ish. I know it must have been terribly disappointing after all the years of development and effort but personally I am... kinda glad? that it failed at 300m :( cuz I am a science chicken in some ways. I hate autoclaves and high-speed centrifuges and this just seemed more of the same.
Haha science chicken a new view point:) I love science and how we are always learning new things. Yes who knows what it would have shown. I only saw them briefly then went to Halley Research Station for my summer. I'm sure similar things have been done now though:)
Life there is old. Probably hasnt changed in millions of years.
It seems pretty clear that you were on HIS road.
Yes hahaha
